HelixID

HelixID provides an open-source identity layer for autonomous digital agents. Unlike session-level access tokens that grant temporary, single-app access, HelixID equips every agent with a W3C Verifiable Credential and a Decentralized Identifier (DID). This robust identity framework ensures that an agent's identity, authorization, and actions can be verified across different organizations, function offline, and be proven long after an event has occurred. Key capabilities include cross-organizational agent trust, enabling seamless interaction between agents from different entities without extensive pre-configuration. It also supports verifiable multi-hop delegation, ensuring that the chain of authority remains clear and auditable when one agent delegates tasks to another, and that agent actions are recorded in a tamper-evident audit trail. Policy enforcement is managed through OPA/Rego, and the system easily integrates with existing OAuth implementations. HelixID is designed for flexibility and control, offering a self-hostable solution that can be deployed in minutes. It operates under an Apache 2.0 license, preventing vendor lock-in.
